Tradition
and innovation

POLLENA-EWA S.A. is a modern company with over a hundred years of tradition and experience in cosmetics production.

HISTORY

The Cosmetics Factory "POLLENA-EWA" S.A. boasts a hundred-year tradition in cosmetics production. In 1919, Hugo Güttel and Józef Wójtowicz founded a small cosmetics factory in the center of Łódź.

Activity began with the production of soaps and colognes (including the most famous Polish cosmetic, "Prastara" eau de toilette), soon expanding the offer to include powders, shampoos, and nail enamels. In 1939, the company, widely known as PIXIN, produced, among other things, 17 types of toilet soap.

In 1951, it became state property and operated under the name "Ewa" Cosmetics Factory. Twenty years later, the factory became part of the "Pollena" Chemical Industry Union and obtained the name "POLLENA-EWA", with which it operates to this day.

The factory's first post-war products were: toilet soap, washing powders and soaps, shaving soaps, and tooth powders. Thanks to a wide assortment, it almost immediately took an important place in the Polish cosmetics industry.

It was the first in Poland to start producing liquid shampoos based on natural herbal extracts, which still constitute a strong position on its list of products. The second "hit" were nail varnishes and enamels, which repeatedly won gold medals and distinctions at various exhibition events.

JOINT STOCK COMPANY

In the 90s, the state-owned enterprise Cosmetics Factory "POLLENA-EWA" was transformed into an employee Joint Stock Company and on August 24, 1992, it was entered into the Commercial Register. In connection with the leasing agreement of December 1992, the company's assets were given to employees for paid use. As a result of negotiations with the Ministry of the Treasury in December 1997, an agreement was concluded, according to which employee leasing was replaced by a notarial deed of purchase and sale of assets. "POLLENA-EWA" S.A. took ownership of the previously used assets of the former state plant and changed its status - it ceased to be an employee company, becoming a private joint stock company. As a Joint Stock Company, it was formed by a notarial deed of June 19, 1992, and registered in the District Court on August 24, 1992.

TORUŃSKIE ZAKŁADY MATERIAŁÓW OPATRUNKOWYCH S.A.

In September 1999, the Company was admitted to public trading, and on November 4, 1999, the first listing of its securities took place on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. In mid-2003, the Company acquired a strategic investor - Toruńskie Zakłady Materiałów Opatrunkowych S.A. The entry of an investor from a related industry enabled the use of production potential and allowed maintaining a high level of quality of manufactured products and customer satisfaction. Toruńskie Zakłady Materiałów Opatrunkowych S.A. became the sole shareholder and 100% owner of the Cosmetics Factory "POLLENA-EWA" S.A. in November 2012. In January 2013, at the request of the Company, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority agreed to abolish the dematerialization of shares, and thus the Cosmetics Factory "POLLENA-EWA" S.A. lost the status of a public company.
